This classic design is known to date back as far as the 3rd century A.D. Only one ancient example is known to still exist, and is on display in the Britsh Museum. Only two links are present in that piece, woven in with other design elements.
This 8 inch bracelet is completely hand made. Each link was constructed from a ring of wire with the ends fused together, then hand formed over a dowel. The loops of each link were planished (hammered) into a pleasingly flat plane. Then the links were woven together.
The links are made of 22 Karat solid gold. The hook is made from 14 Karat gold. The lower karatage of the hook gives it extra strength.
The bracelet can be worn with either side showing. The 1st two pictures show the upper side, and the last picture the underside.
I can also make this design in Fine Silver with a Sterling Silver hook -- just ask!
